How will Basaltwool affect the climate change?

For the last 10 years there have been critical news about global warming. World life depends on temperature changes at just a few degrees. Only a small degree of temperature changes will have a negative effect on our environment.

Fuel combustion leaves a huge amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The high levels of carbon dioxide emerge in the warm atmosphere formed on the ground, as a result so called “greenhouse gas effect” is indicates the increase in global warming. The interaction of nitrogen oxides, methane, and fluoride further  increases global warming.

Due to global warming, natural disasters such as storms, floods, overheating and drought are increasingly common. The ice and glaciers are melting away. The islands are covered with sea water and ski resorts with natural snow are becoming rare.

Climate change affects everything. Because of wind speed and level of water increased, it requires more insurance from us.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel of the United Nations which undertakes analysis on climate change, the average temperature in the earth would increase by 1-50C in the next hundred years.

Kyoto’s protocol

International agreement that has been under the discussion over the 7 years finally been signed and is now in effect.   The President of Russian Federation – Vladimir Putin  signed this agreement in 2004 on behalf of his country. There is an international pressure for those countries such as USA with highest greenhouse gas emission to follow this example and sign the agreement.

By the Kyoto protocol it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5.2% by the year 2012.  This is a small but important step. The European Union aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 15-30%, in its developed industrial countries by 2020 compared with 1990.

Environmental experts are advised to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by 60-80% by the year 2050. If not, then the global warming will be further increased by more than 20 Celsius . The Building industry is the easiest way to implement this task.

Impact of our product

Basaltwool insulation products are the main source of reducing carbon dioxide. In Denmark, the 250 mm Basaltwool roof insulation building has been used for 50 years and can save 162 times carbon dioxide from the production, transportation and use of the product. Carbon dioxide balance will be positive after four months of using Basaltwool.

How will Basaltwool affect the air pollution reduction?

To live healthily there must be enough healthy air. Fuel burns are a source of pollution.

According to the World Health Organization, over 800’000 people die each year from air pollution caused by fuel combustion from cars, transportation, electricity and other human uses. The need for fuel burns is increasingly alarming.

Fugitive gas (photochemical ozone) generated from fuel combustion is a serious cause of death as this affects lung, heart and respiratory system diseases.
